Warm Mineral Springs, in the city of North Port, first opened as a natural health spa in Florida in 1956. The spring, while rich in healthful minerals and touting a storied history, has managed to stay virtually unknown to American tourists. Yet to the Eastern Europeans who make up nearly 95 percent of the clientele, the spring is widely acclaimed as one of the greatest natural spas in the world. On the surface, Warm Mineral Springs itself doesn’t look like much. It’s the spring’s community of zealous supporters that epitomize the unconventional character of the place.
